The credibility of any tale told at the Fountain may be estimated by the gallon. Professor Mackintosh's stories are usually rated at a quart, requiring the listener to consume no more than two pints of Old Bodger before yielding to the Professor's erudition and conceding the total plausibility of whatever fantastical concoction has just rolled elegantly from his silver tongue.

Brian Dalton likes to push the boundaries a bit, so he generally favours a half-gallon yarn. But when Dr. Steve starts with, “You'll never believe this…” you know for sure that you won't, unless you've consumed the full eight pints.
